Gardens

The gardens at Benedictine Farm are placed all around the farm. The private gardens, designed around the home include the Potager , herbaceous Rose Boarders, and a collection of woodland bulbs underneath the old Oaks. The Potager is attached the kitchen, full of herbs, vegetables, coveted roses and Madonna lilies. It contains two large, raised beds and is surrounded by a wattle fence with material that was collected from a farm in Ohio. The herbaceous Rose Boarders encompassing the house consist of 8 different varieties of David Austin roses for cutting, interplanted with Fennel, Dames Rocket, Foxgloves, Orlaya, Love-in -a-mist and Florentine Irises.

The Six Large Flower beds lay right outside of the partially Walled Garden and contain our collection of Narcissus, Tulips and Peonies we use for cutting.

The partially Walled Garden is a half an acre plot that was cultivated for an immersive experience for visitors to fully embrace the felling of the garden. A selection of cooking herbs, Tea herbs, and vegetables are there for guests to take. The tea herb area is surrounded by a plastered strawbale wall. This area was designed with the medieval idea of the Hortus conclusus or what is called a Garden Room in historical garden design. A place for sitting and taking in the wafts of fragrance and beauty, enclosed from the outside world.
